PARTY IDEAS -> TEA PARTY RECIPIES
|Perfect Tea Party Sugar Cookies
||1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
|Sift together and add:
||2 to 2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
|Divide the dough into 2 parts. Chill for 1 to 2 hours. Roll the dough one part at a time to 1/8 inch thickness and cut with the teapot cookie cutter. Keep the other part of the dough chilled until ready to use. Bake: 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
You can frost with the following powdered Sugar Glaze recipe or you can frost with your favorite frosting and shake colorful sprinkles on the cookies to decorate them.
Tips for good cookies: Dip teapot cookie cutter in flour and shake off each time you cut out a teapot from the dough.
Powdered Sugar Glaze
Blend together 1 cup powdered sugar and 5 - 6 teaspoons water. Add food coloring if desired. Brush glaze over cookies while still warm.
The Best Blueberry Scones
- 2 and 3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 sticks cold butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup whipping cream
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in large bowl.
Cut butter in with a pastry blender.
Add blueberries and toss lightly.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs & cream together and add to dry ingredients lightly, barely holding together. Use your fingers if needed for a light touch.
Grease baking sheet.
Mold in cup of hand and put on the baking sheet. We found that small scones work best for a tea party.
Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for around 20 minutes for larger scones. Bake around 10 - 12 minutes for small scones.
Frost with powdered sugar glaze frosting.
This recipe can make between 12 to 20 scones.
Fancy Mini Cheese Cakes
Two 8 oz packages cream cheese
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
18 vanilla wafers
18 foil baking cups
Beat cream cheese until it is soft. Add the eggs, vanilla and sugar.
Beat until fluffy.
Put 1 wafer - flat side down - in each baking cup and fill 3/4 full.
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until slightly brown around the edges.
Let them sit for a while and then cool on a rack.
You can top with cherry pie filling and refrigerate or you can top with a few of your favorite fresh berries.
